Every summer, Visiting Artists come to the Rock River Valley from all over the country to "Bring Art and Agriculture Together" in a most unique program. They are invited to live with farm families for nine days, during which time they experience first-hand the agricultural lifestyle that puts food on our tables, clothes on our backs, and even fuel in our tanks. Farmers are eager to share their way of life and to update these artistic emissaries on what is happening in agriculture in the 21st century.
Visiting Artists have the luxury of working as many hours as they choose, with endless subject matter. As one artist commented: "Everywhere I look there is a picture to paint". During the week, there are cultural tours, presentations to attend, and events full of food and fun. But most importantly, there are warm friendships to form that often last a lifetime. On the final day of the Fields Project, Visiting Artists are joined by Regional Artists for an art show and sale, Art Fair at Mix Park in Oregon.
